Big Sister Kristine and Little Sister Takesha enjoy some time at the Little Big House.

The organization celebrates 100 years of changing the lives of young Canadian through mentoring and looks forward to 100 more.

Please take a minute to visit thebigshoutout.ca and give a big thank you to someone that has made a positive difference in your life and helped shape the person you are today.

You can also tweet your big shout out using #thebigshoutout, which will automatically appear on the Twitter feed of the website thebigshoutout.ca

We also ask you to spread the word and encourage your family, friends, your Big or Little, coworkers, followers, etc. to give their own big shout out to that special someone who has made a difference in their life.

The Big Shout Out is an online space where every Canadian, as of Jan. 15 gets an opportunity to post a thank you to that someone who has made a positive difference, whether that be a friend, parent, grandparent, teacher, boss, etc – currently or in the past. It is a celebration of mentors that have and continue to help lead and shape us into the people we are today.

So, we invite you to take a moment to visit thebigshoutout.ca to give your big shout out and to encourage others to do the same – we thank you for celebrating with us!

The need for volunteer mentors is great.  In Quesnel alone, there are 26 children waiting to be matched with a volunteer mentor.  You can start something today by going to our website at bigbrothersbigsistersofquesnel.ca and inquiring about the numerous volunteer opportunities or by making a donation to support mentoring.

Our Penny Drive continues.  Thank you to everyone who has been dropping off their pennies.  Mark your calendars for Bowl for Kids Sake April 28. Help celebrate our birthday.

Maggie Bello is executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel.
