Get a grip

Quesnel, city hall

Editor:

Looking around Quesnel and seeing the number of businesses that have shut up shop is a little disconcerting, quite a few businesses are on the market and have been for many a month.

There are also industrial sites for sale, all in all that equates to a difficult financial time for Quesnel both short and long term.

Like many here we see the revenues from up North rapidly making their way down South so as to enable major projects in the big cities to come to completion

We all know about the monies required down South and it is not going to be curtailed any day soon.

It is not that difficult to get major improvements South of us but up here it is almost as though we are second hand citizens who nevertheless, contribute big time to this province.

The purpose of my letter is to ensure that with decreasing tax revenues flowing into city hall, it is time to take a long and hard financial look at future projects in the pipeline and make the appropriate changes.

There is a major difference between desirable and essential, council really needs to get to grips with the financial realities in life.

We do not need another city hall fiasco.
