LETTER: A story above the rest

Remembering Autumn MacDonald

Editor,

It is with a heavy heart I received the news of the death of Autumn MacDonald, former editor of the Quesnel Cariboo Observer.

She was an award-winning journalist and editor with extraordinary skills. She made it look easy.

Autumn was the editor when I arrived as the new sports reporter, and I soon learned that I had been blessed. She was quick to smile, to laugh, a team builder who provided gentle and helpful guidance in the same way she offered praise. She made me a better reporter.

Autumn was truly a bright light in the newspaper industry, and a promotor of the Quesnel community and the many organizations and businesses.

To the Quesnel Cariboo Observer family, I offer my condolences, and to the MacDonald family my deepest sympathies.

I trust you have many cherished memories to lighten the burden of your loss.

Percy N. Hébert
