Re: Stranded B.C. trucker writes final wishes before being rescued 3 days later

After reading the story, it is interesting to note that there was not more mentioned about the fact the trucker chose this route because he was at his maximum driving hours and wanted to avoid the Commercial Vehicle and Safety Enforcement (CVSE) weigh stations as stated under the picture of the area map. As you most likely know, driving over your maximum allotted hours is an offence and is meant to keep tired drivers off the roads.

I am glad nothing happened to him and that he is safe now, but driving through that remote area with narrow roads and fully alert etc., etc., is tough enough, let alone while has was at his max driving hours and most likely tired was just plain dumb and dangerous on his part with such a long rig.

The RCMP as well as the CVSE should have checked his log books and had a long fireside chat with him about this.
