New volunteer welcomed

-

Welcome to our newest Office Volunteer, Eleanor Christensen.

Eleanor will be one of the Office Volunteers tending the office over the summer.  Our unit office will be open weekdays from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., beginning July 4.

Our regular hours, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. begins again on Sept. 6.

Once again, thank you to all the participants, survivors, volunteers, sponsor and donors for helping to make our 10th Relay For Life such a success.

We raised more than $166,000 to help in the fight against cancer.

The Third Amazing Race will take place on Aug. 6.  Teams of two will race to complete activities in and around the Quesnel area.

Some activities are physical, some are mental and some are just plain fun!

Cost per team is $200 and a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot.  Registration forms are available at Quesnel Unit Office and the Cariboo Observer.

We are also looking for volunteers to help in the pre-event planning as well as on the day of the event.

If you are interested, contact Cathy 250-747-2510 or Judy 250-985-5816.  Proceeds from the event are shared jointly with Canadian Cancer Society and Quesnel and District Hospice Palliative Care Association.

The Cops For Cancer ride will be coming through Quesnel on Sept. 13.  Volunteers are needed to help organize a welcome for the riders and to help with dinner and breakfast plans.  Please contact the office or Cathy Briggs if you would like to help with this.

The Northern Region Summit takes place in Prince George over the Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 weekend.  The theme of this year’s summit is “Touching Our Communities.”  Registration forms and information are available at the office.

Our next meeting is Sept. 14 at noon.  Prospective members are always welcome!

Olive Walsh is a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Quesnel unit.
