Serenity erupts over Bear, GM dents Blue Collar

Good things come to those that wait and after scoring a paltry 10 goals in their first seven games vs. Bear, Serenity erupted for nine in the lopsided 9-3 win.

Twice the Builders scored four consecutive markers, once to make it a 5-2 halftime lead and the other to round out the contest after the Communicators had opened up the scoring in the second half.

After earning several Gordie Howe hat tricks earlier in his career, with his last three goal performance coming almost a decade ago, Dave (Chainsaw) McCulloch lit the light on a trio of tap in tallies to go with an assist.

With his latest output, the ageless wonder has now scored the same number of goals, nine, so far this season that he managed in the previous six campaigns.

Another player long thought to have lost his mojo was Randy (Viagra) Crofts who scored a pair of beauties that had the angels crying to go with a divine helper.

Scoring one each and combining for an amazing eight assists was the stellar combo of Ian (Heartbreaker) Hannah, (Sugar) Ray Friesen, (Dashing) Dallen Crofts and Kevin (Body Double) Hesslegrave.

One of the only bright lights in a usually star-studded Bear line-up was Troy (Mercury) McMillan who despite battling the flu scored once and added a pair of assists.

His gusty performance excused him from the bag skate the rest of his teammates were forced to do after the game under the watchful eye of the ghost of Herb Brooks.

The other contest saw tempers boil over, as twice as many penalties as goals were marked on the scoresheet in the 4-1 Fraser River victory over the sad sack Blue Collar squad.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise with the stakes at hand and the playoffs just around the corner.

Playing a strong brand of Hwy 97 (North-South) hockey for the Chevy Crew was the trio of Eric (Bonsai) Bodman, Josh (Archie) Andrews and Shane (The Pain) Baker as they all found the twine for singletons to go with an assist.

Also scoring for GM was Grant (Plants) Johannesen who has rounded into form after a slow start with three tallies since the New Year with this week’s winning marker giving him mesh ripplers in back to back games.

Scoring the lone goal for a BCS squad who is currently tied with the 04-05 Green squad for fewest wins in a season was Nathan (The Last) Strand who despite his team’s futility is managing to have a career year.
