Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel is busy planning their annual Bowl For Kids Sake, April 28. The theme for it this year is “Birthday Bash.”

This year is a big milestone as it is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada Centennial year. The major sponsor is VIA Rail.  Lane sponsor to date is West Fraser Mills. Nine more lane sponsors are needed.  Give Joanie a call to learn more about how you can contribute.  Other sponsors include:  Cariboo Pulp, Vancouver Canadians Baseball, PNE, Vancouver Aquarium, Kumsheen Raft Adventures, Telus Science World, Vancouver Harbour Cruises, Old Spaghetti Factory and Sandman Hotels & Inns.  Teams are needed! You can register and collect pledges online at bigbrothersbigsistersofquesnel.ca. You will then be entered in a draw for a $100 Marks Work Wearworld gift card.  If you would like to participate, call Joanie to book your team for the hour and a half session.  Co-workers, families and friends can form five member teams, collect pledges and come out and bowl at Rev Bowling Lanes.  For every $100 collected in pledges per person (19 years and older), your name goes into the incentive draws.  If you are unable to play, you can still pledge or send a tax-deductible donation.  Thank you to 7-11 South and Rev Bowling Lanes for participating in our April pin up promotion.

Our agency served more than 190 children and youth in the community last year. There are many children who would like to have a mentor. The funds raised from this event help us sustain our programs.

Our group enjoyed the Winter Carnival at West Fraser Park on Feb. 2.

Stay tuned for our West Jet raffle – we’ll be starting to sell tickets on May 15.

Stop by the Little Big House, 368 Vaughan Street before 3 p.m. Thursday, March 7.  We are having a Parti Lite fundraiser.  Order some scented candles for a friend, colleague or a family member. Thank you to Big Sister Krista for organizing it for us.

Ongoing fundraisers include Renew Crew used clothing drive, bottle and penny drop off. Thank you to all the community members who regularly donate to us.
