I joined Black Press in 2005 as a sales rep at the Arrow Lakes News in Nakusp. In 2006, I moved from Nakusp to join the Quesnel Cariboo Observer as a sales rep. After 5 years in sales, I was appointed to the position of Publisher. Then in 2022, I was also appointed Publisher of the Vanderhoof Omineca Express, Stuart Nechako Advertiser, and Caledonia Courier. I am also involved in many
community groups and enjoy working with the community.

I started my career with Black Press Media fresh out of BCIT in 1994, as part of the startup of the Prince George Free Press, then editor of the Lakes District News. As of 2023, I’m the editor of the Quesnel Observer, plus content as needed in other BP papers. In between times, I did some television with Shaw, some radio with CFIS-FM, a wide range of communications consulting, event hosting, freelance writing/editing, and 15 years with the Prince George Citizen. In the process, I’ve won three Ma Murray Awards (six-time finalist), two Canadian Community Newspaper Awards, and had fun!

My journey into writing began as a child filling journals with my observations and eventually, using my camera. As a young adult, I started working as a photographer, later returning to school to study fine arts. After taking an elective in women’s studies, I pivoted and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice from UBC. I spent my next chapter working as a photographer and writer in the USA before returning to BC to work as a full-time writer for Black Press Media. I love the sunshine, books, and getting lost in conversations with friends.
