After huge success, the Quesnel Rodeo Club (QRC) is already thinking of next year’s rodeo.
Record crowds attended the 55th annual Quesnel Rodeo at Alex Fraser Park on July 15, 16, and 17.
“Overall, it went extremely well,” said QRC president Ray Jasper. “We had a great entry, the weather cooperated, our folks that volunteers were out in full force (I can’t say enough about them), and our sponsorship was overwhelming. And then, to top it all off, the crowds showed up.”
Jasper estimates approximately 7,000 spectators attended the three-day affair.
Once again, replays could be watched on a large screen which was provided by a new company that Jasper said was phenomenal.
This year also featured a newly formatted BCRA Amateur tournament-style rode with championship rounds.
“The format was overwhelmingly accepted by the competitors,” Jasper said. “Sunday’s rodeo with the top 10 championship round was one of the best rodeos that I think you’d see anywhere in B.C. — fast-paced, excellent action. People came with their A game, so it really turned out to be a pretty good format for us. We were pretty happy with it.”
While the Quesnel Rodeo Club held off from holding a barn dance due to limited staffing, it is hoped to return in 2023.
