Besides the high school rodeo here in town, 100 Mile House and Keremeos hosted Rodeos over the May long weekend. First up, on May 19 and 21, Keremeos held the Elks Rodeo. The Quesnel posse did well. Steve Hohmann took home top honours on Jedi in the saddle bronc along with the $605.88 purse. He also took second place in bull riding on Heartbreaker, along with the $402.68 purse. In junior breakway roping Tayler Cathcart secured second along with the $60.84 prize. In 100 Mile House, the Quesnel bunch did even better. Steve Hohmann continued to make his mark with a first in bareback for a $240.24 payout and again in saddle bronc for a $196.56 purse. Lane Wills took second in junior barrel racing for $137.23, followed by Taylor Cherry in third for the $95.00 payout. Dustin Speirs won junior steer riding for $99.01, followed by Clay Waterhouse in second for the $75.71 purse. Finally, Dustin LeNeue took the first place in peewee barrel racing, which came with an $88, purse.
