Bantam Thunder season off to a thunderous start

Quesnel's Bantam Thunder has already experienced an amazing run of wins in the season

Bantam Thunder faced the Williams Lake Timberwolves for their first two games of the season Sept. 20 – 21.

Just like their younger counterparts, the Bantam team seemed determined to start the season off strong, winning both games first with a score of 2-1 followed by a score of 3-2.

On Sept. 26, Bantam Thunder lost to the Prince George Tier 2, 1-4.

The following day of hockey proved fruitful for the Quesnel players.

First taking on 100 Mile House in the morning, Quesnel dominated with a final score of 25-0.

The afternoon game was played against Prince George Tier 3, with Bantam Thunder winning with a six point lead over there opponents.

The Sept. 28 game against the Williams Lake Timberwolves would prove to be a challenge for Bantam Thunder.

The teams were well matched, finishing the game with a score of 5-5 for the Quesnel players first tie of the season.

Quesnel Bantam Thunder travelled south to Salmon Arm for a weekend of hockey, Oct. 3 – 5.

Bantam Thunder won the first game against Merrit with a solid 13-0 victory.

In the game against Salmon Arm the final score was 5-0 in favour of Bantam Thunder.

The Quesnel team brought in yet another two victories during the weekend with an 11-1 triumph over Cranbrook and a 4-1 win in the game against Kamloops Tier 3.

Bantam Thunder suffered their first loss of the weekend in the game against Vanderhoof.

Vanderhoof finished the match with a two-point lead for a final score of 5-3.

In the game against Burns Lake, Oct. 17, Quesnel took advantage of playing on home ice and dominated the visiting team for a final score of 16-0.

In the following game against Vernon the morning of Oct. 18 Quesnel’s Bantam Thunder faced a 2-1 defeat to the visiting team.

In the evenings game against Vanderhoof Bantam Thunder finished a staggering nine points ahead of their opponents.

But in the Sunday game against Vernon the Quesnel Bantams suffered another loss to the visiting team from the South. Vernon won the game with a final score of 10-2.

In the final game of the weekend, Bantam Thunder jumped back into the winners seat in their game against the visitors from Terrace with a final score of 6-5.

The Oct. 26 game against the Williams Lake Timberwolves the Quesnel Bantam’s were well matched.

Neither team had gained the upper-hand when the final buzzed rang resulting in a 5-5 tied game.

Two tied games, four losses and numerous wins has left the Quesnel Bantam Thunder with impressive statistic in the season so far.
