Basketball Clan take third on the road, host tourney this weekend

The Correlieu senior girl’s basketball team came home with a third-place finish at a six-team tournament in Fort. St. James.

The Correlieu senior school girl’s basketball team came home last weekend with a third-place finish at a six-team tournament in Fort. St. James.

The senior girls Clan team finished the tournament with a record of 2-1.

Their only loss came in their first game of the tournament, Friday evening, when they faced the team from Cedars Christian Academy.

Although the Clan played a hard game, fatigue from traveling all day creeped into their game and they came up on the short end of the score.

“They [Cedars]  are a very skilled double A team,” Clan coach Tracey Lust explained.

“We [CSS] are a triple A team.”

Things improved for the Clan Saturday, once they had some sleep and a good breakfast, with wins against Mountain Christian Academy and Northside.

The Clan easily stepped past Mountain Christian Academy with a 78-17 win and then closed out the tournament with a 61-16 win over Northside.

Lust was happy with the performance of her teams and pleased to see offensive contributions from several players, including Shalynn Robertson, Shaylynn McCauley, Lacy Service, Jessica Lust, Jordan Pawluk, Morgan Kennedy, Shelby Willson and Megan Smith.

The Clan are back in action this weekend as they host a tournament at CSS.

Action begins Friday afternoon as the Clan open up with a game at 2 p.m. and another at 6:45 p.m.
