Bending over backwards for success

The Quesnel Technics gym found success at Zone 8 2012 Championships.

The Quesnel Technics gymnastic gym doubled their competitions for the year last weekend, May 5 – 6, in Prince George.

Kids from Williams Lake, Prince George and Fort St. James came out, along with the Quesnel troupe, for the Zone 8 2012 Championships, with the addition of Smithers, Kitimat and Terrace adding competition in the Prince George Invitational the same weekend.

It was the second competition of the year for the club and coach Peggy Wilcox was satisfied with the results.

"The kids did fabulous for their second competition," Wilcox said.

The club fielded six girls in the Zone 8 championship, three Level One Argos, age 9 and 10, a Level One Tyro, between 11 and 12, along with two Level Twos, who were combined, Tyro and Argo. For the Prince George invitational an extra three pre-competition girls joined their teammates for testing, along with a lone male.

The team got the Level 1 Team High Score award for both competitions; an award which goes to the team with the highest aggregate score.

Team members also came home with a plethora of golds, bronzes and silvers from both competitions.

They next head off to Smithers, June 15 – 16, for a year wrap-up competition.
