The biathlon team was in West Kelowna last weekend, making their mark in the sport.

Teams from across B.C. found their way to the Telemark Nordic Club in Kelowna to take part in the second race of the BC Biathlon Cup.

Nine members of the Quesnel Biathlon Team took part in the race.

The sprint event has three loops of skiing mixed in with two bouts of shooting. The finish position in the sprint determines your starting position in the next day’s pursuit event.

Each athlete starts five seconds behind the previous starter, with the first across the finish line being the winner.

The club took nine medals home – four in the sprint and five in the pursuit.

Saturday, Feb. 9, biathletes competed in the sprint competition.

The Quesnel skiers did well, taking a couple of firsts, along with some podium finishes and a host of top ten positions.
