Correlieu Secondary School students brought home a banner after winning the BC School Sports Provincial Championsips in boys alpine skiing.
The team of Caleb Wollends, Elliott Jarrett, Holden Doucette and Noah Woollends topped the podium at the provincial championship held Monday, Feb. 28 to Wednesday, March 2 at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden.
“They’re dedicated athletes not just in skiing but other sports as well,” said Correlieu Secondary principal Marissa Knauf.
“It’s exciting—they worked hard for this.”

The Quesnel school, located more than 750 kilometres from where the ski and snowboard provincial championship took place, learned of the alpine ski team’s achievement from a proud parent.
Knauf praised their past accomplishments and noted Jarrett, Doucette, and the Woollends, who are twins, have all been involved with the Lightning Creek Ski Club based at Troll Ski Resort.
”Last year, they did not have a provincial championship, so they’re pretty excited,” she added.
“They’re amazing athletes, and it’d be nice to see them continue to put more time in on the slopes.”
Coaches attending included John Marien and Mike Sakakibara.
