The BCHL could once again find a home in Quesnel.
Jeff Norburn, the city’s director of community services, confirmed a group has approached the city to see if a BCHL franchise could come to Quesnel.
“They definitely have reached out to us,” Norburn said.
“They haven’t firmed up a lot of things on their end. (We’re in the) preliminary stages checking to see whether or not Quesnel would be receptive to hosting a junior A hockey team.”
Quesnel has been without a junior hockey franchise since the BCHL’s Quesnel Millionaires relocated to Chilliwack in 2011.
The city has been on the radar for multiple junior hockey leagues.
A group looking to bring an expansion franchise to Quesnel in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), a junior B league, has received a letter of support from the Cariboo Regional District and city.
A vote on whether the expansion franchise will be granted has yet to be taken by the KIJHL board of governors.
