The Lakeview elementary girls have taken over the district with their prowess at the hoops.

The girls won their district championship last week, beating the other elementary schools in the area.

"Our girls are skilled, plus they're big, so it's a tough combination," coach Cyril Tobin said.

The girls won their regional tournament and met St. Ann’s and Voyageur, the winner of their respective regional tournaments, in the final district tournament.

The Lakeview girls, in a series of round robin games, took firm control of their opponents and came out ahead.

A week later Lakeview hosted the boys' District Championships.

Dragon Lake beat Red Bluff in a very close final.

Red Bluff pulled out all the stops, playing their best game and forcing Dragon Lake to do the same. In the end the bigger, taller Dragon Lake team was able to overcome Red Bluff and were crowned district champions.

St. Ann’s was able to take third in the nine team tournament.
