Double the rodeo, double the fun

Chilliwack and Pritchard held rodeos over the weekend making it a very busy weekend for cowboys and girls across B.C.

Overlapping rodeos had some very busy cowboys on the road this past weekend.

The 140 Chilliwack Rodeo, Aug. 10–11 and the Pritchard Rodeo, Aug. 11 – 12, had  riders commuting nearly 300 kms to take part in each event.

In Pritchard, Quesnel rider Steve Hohmann took the top spot in bareback, followed by Jared Marshall of Prince George. Bree Low, of Langley, rounded out the top three.

In tie-down roping Riley Isnardy, from Cache Creek, roped first for the weekend. Brock Herman of Knutsford, came in second, followed by Clayton Honeybrown of Quesnel.

Hohmann did double duty in saddle bronc, riding second only to himself. Justin Buhler took third.

Cohord Mason of Kamloops wrestled his way to the top in steer wrestling, followed by Cole Scott, also of Kamloops and Luke Simonon, Naramata, in third.

Keri MiIkkelson, from Kamloops, performed best in breakaway roping. Allison Everett, 150 Mile, took second, followed by a second Allison, Allison Bremner, from Williams Lake, in third.

Dustin Speirs, riding out of Quesnel, took first in junior breakaway roping, followed by, KC Speirs, out of Vanderhoof in second. Sharla Hancock, also out of Quesnel, followed in third.

In ladies barrel racing Julie Leggett, riding out of Kamloops, took first. Laura James, also out of Kamloops, took second, with Judy Hyde, from Prince George, rounding out the top three.

Quesnel riders conquered in junior barrel racing, taking all three top spots. Lane Wills  raced to first, followed by Rikki Hutnyk and McKenzie Wills.

KC Speirs took first in junior steer riding. Emmett Beeds, from Williams Lake, rode into the second spot, followed by Blaine Manual, riding out of 150 Mile.

In team roping Cash and Carey Isnardy, out of Cache Creek, took the number one position. Josh Cahill, from Savona, and Ty Lytton, Lone Butte, took the second spot. Colton Bates, Williams Lake, and Brydon Rock, Quesnel, followed in third.

Dyson Leneve, out of Quesnel, was fastest of the peewees around the barrels. Brianna Billy, Williams Lake, nipped at his heels, and outran Tyler Cherry, also of Quesnel.

The companion rodeo in Chilliwack showed a surprising amount of overlap of riders considering the distance between the two cities.

In bareback Cash Kerner, riding out of Douglas Lake, took the first two positions, followed by Jared Marshall out of Prince George.

Steve Pozzobon, Osoyoos, took the top spot in tie-down roping.  Riley Isnardy, out of Cache Creek, took second, followed by Jonah Isnardy, also out of Cache Creek.

Hohmann made the commute to take the number one position in saddle bronc twice in the same weekend. Joe Roberson, from Merritt, followed in second.

In steer wrestling Norman Breen, from Princeton, came out on top. Cole Scott, of Kamloops, took second, followed by Joel Isnardy, of Cache Creek.

Archie Williams, of Cache Creek, was tops in breakaway roping, followed by Katrina Ilricki, from Williams Lake, in second. Troy Gerard, from Savona, rounded out the top three.

Quesnel riders Rikki Hutnyk and Sharla Hancock finished second and third respectively in junior breakaway roping. Kyle Bell, riding out of Houston, took the top spot.

In ladies barrel racing Julie Leggett, out of Kamloops, raced to the top, with Vanessa Leggett, also of Kamloops, nipping at her heels. Shanda Davis, from Chilliwack, rounded out the podium.

Savanah Watson, of Quesnel, was part of a first/second tie with Tasha Sietz, from Savona, in junior barrel racing. Odessa Gerard, also of Savona, followed in third/second.

KC Speirs took top honours in junior steer riding, followed by Jacob Gardner, of Ft. St. John in second and Blaine Manuel, out of 150 Mile House, in third.
