The athletes of Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club have returned from Kamloops after participating in the ‘Wild West Fest’ gymnastics tournament and they have not returned empty handed.
After the three day event, team members collected a total of 10 medals and 10 ribbons in the various categories the athletes competed in.
Celina De Rose, Isaac Woollends and Jessica Higgins all took medals at the competition.
De Rose represented Quesnel in the provincial level one novice group and came away with a total of five medals: a bronze in vault and a gold medal in her other three events.
De Rose's total score also gave her a overall gold medal for her group. De Rose also received a special award for her showing on the beam in the combined level one novice/open.
On the provincial level three Tyro side, Higgins picked up a bronze medal on vault and another bronze on floor, while picking up a pair of fourth place ribbons in the beam and bars event.
Competing on the mens side was Woollends, who was able to pick up a pair of gold medals on the pommel horse and the parallel bars as well as a pair of silver medals on the rings and the vault.
In the category of provincial level one Argo, Presley Kitamura received a sixth place ribbon on bars and a tenth place ribbon on beam.
In the provincial level one Tyro group, Sierra Moore found a sixth place ribbon on the beam and a seventh place ribbon with her floor routine.
Two competitors were entered in the provincial level two Tyro. Emily Gorder received a sixth place ribbon on the bars and an eighth place ribbon on floor, while Alyssa Schneider garnered a sixth on vault and a ninth place ribbon on floor.
Each of the female competitors were judged on the their individual achievements in four gymnastic disciplines: floor, beam, vault and the uneven bars.
