WEEK 8

Just like a big old snowball, Serenity’s streak keeps getting bigger thanks to a 6-3 doubling of Bear and Fraser River extends Blue Collar’s sorrow in an 8-2 win.

It’s a little hard to figure out exactly what the Builders secret to success is, as they don’t do anything particularly well, but they don’t seem to care as their 6-3 win over Bear is their fourth straight victory.

They were fortunate in the eighth game of the season to finally catch a few glimpses of last year’s scoring champion as Justin “Time” Rasmussen broke out of his slow start for two early period goals, which were followed up by a pair of fantastic assists.

Showing some deft talent that he usually reserves for Friday afternoon ping-pong was Chris “Crown” Royle who assisted on a trio.

Brian “Bubba” Inwood also scored his first of the season on his own rebound.

Supplying the late game heroics were Jordan “Rollover” Johnson, Colin “Clutch” Keis and Derek “Breakneck” Burdekin who all scored singletons after Bear had mounted a comeback attempt.

Playing like a toe-drag master was Bear’s Jason “Firecracker” Foreman who pulled off the move several times but could only muster one goal which tied the score at ones at Zamboni time.

Putting his team on his back for the second half was Brad “Good” Neighbour who scored on a point shot and set-up Lee “Nitro” Naeth’s ninth of the season.

The other contest ended up being anything but, as Fraser River rode roughshod over a struggling Blue Collar side in an 8-2 laugher.

Enjoying a career defining game was Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah who collected two goals and drew four apples. His line mates, Randy “Killer” Crofts and Levon “Young gun” Johnson combined for five goals and three assists.

Derek “Kamikaze” Kitamura also had a multi-point game as he drew first assists on the winning and first insurance goals.

Meanwhile in the BCS corner, the team with plenty of talent needs to find out how to put the biscuit in the basket as they have only seven goals during their four-game slide which has seen them go from first to worst in the standings.

WEEK 9

Serenity keeps building on an impressive run as they double up on BCS 8-4 while Fraser River and Bear throw caution to the wind in an 8-6 Chevy Crew victory.

Momentum and confidence are important to grizzled veterans and that’s what Brian “Bubba” Inwood used to score a pair to lead his Serenity side to an 8-4 win over a reeling Blue Collar team.

Serenity Captain Justin “Time” Rasmussen had his second straight strong game as he notched his first hat-trick of the season which clubhoused his pair of assists.

Not to be outdone by his workmates was Cam “Shaft” Graham who scored twice and assisted on both of “Bubba’s” tallies, while stay at home D-man Richard “Prince” George drew a pair of helpers.

Providing the pushback for BCS were a pair on the opposite end of the weigh scale as Matt “The Punisher” Powell pounded in a couple and Darcy “Doctor” McGillivary knifing in a goal and an assist.

Continuing to lead his team in the GAS category is Kevin “Nightrider” Hesslegrave whose goal and assist gives him 21 points to top his team.

The game on Rink 2 had even more centre ice face-offs, as Fraser River outlasted Bear in an 8-6 shootout.

Exploiting the Bear D-men at whim was Levon “Young gun” Johnson who scored the hat-trick and assisted on Dave “Pinball” Penners seventh of the year.

Also having explosive games were Jason “Junior” Johnson who used his speed and “Smokin” Joe Mamic who used his brawn as both had a goal and a pair of assists in the victory.

Doing their best to force extra time were a resilient Bear side led by Neil “Real” Mackay, Eric “Bonsai” Bodman and Lee “Nitro” Naeth who all tickled the twine and added assists.

Scoring his first goal of the season was Todd “The Body” Gryschuk, while Jason “Firecracker” Foreman had a goal and a pair of assists.
