March 9, the Legion Sunday Morning Fun League held their year end mini-bonspiel. We began at 8:30 a.m. with the Quesnel Pipe and Drums piping us onto the ice. After the first rock was thrown by Dave Parsons, we curled three four end games plus the playoff. This year the winner of the A event was the Ken Lewington (second from right) rink with (from left) lead Dennis Baptiste, second Lucy Bryce and third Monica Berg (with sponsor representative Brad Kotzer for the Billy Barker Casino). The winner of the B event was the Darcey Horn (Far right) rink with (from left) third Ed Stolarski, second Irene Durocher and lead Shelly Calihou. This event was won after a tie-breaker, skip stone throw off between Horn and Ken Lewington. The winner of the C event was the Lois Parsons (middle) rink with lead Shannon Johnston (not shown), second Jo Sweeny and third Brad Kotzer. This event also needed a skip stone throw-off tie-breaker between Lois and Terry Berg. Our league is made up from first time curlers to very old-timers, both in experience and age – the oldest being 92 this year. We also incorporated a full team from the Special Olympics this year to round out our 12 team format. They had a great time ending up placing fourth in the B event. This is an open league where teams are picked out of a hat according to position played. We choose to play in this league as it is a FUN league. Look for our registration list to be up in the Legion Lobby on Labour Day. Hope to see you in the fall.
