Golf For Kids’ Sake raises over $14,500 for Quesnel Big Brothers Big Sisters

The annual fundraiser was held June 4 at the Quesnel Golf Course

The 16th annual Golf For Kids’ Sake supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel was a success, says the not-for-profit organization.

A total of 71 golfers from as far away as Nanaimo and Prince George took to the Quesnel Golf Course on Saturday, June 4, for the fundraiser.

“We couldn’t ask for better weather and raised over $14,500,” said executive director and fundraising coordinator Joanie Newman. “Lots of fun and prizes were had by all.”

Newman thanked all sponsors and participants. The top fundraiser was Margaret Mok, who collected more than $2,300.

Funds from the Golf For Kids’ Sake will be used by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel to continue their mentoring programs for local youth.

“Quesnel is a wonderful community, and just when you think we don’t have enough people and we’re not going to make any money, Quesnel always comes through,” Newman said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel is selling tickets for their WestJet raffle, which will be drawn on October 31. The first prize is round trip airfare for two to anywhere WestJet flies, with the second prize $500 in gift cards and the third prize a $150 gift certificate to Himalayan Kitchen.

For tickets, visit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel at 336 Front Street or call 250-992-7257. Tickets are also available at Johnston Meier Insurance Agencies Group.
