Gymnasts from across the Cariboo and beyond  sumersaulted their way to Quesnel last weekend for the annual Goldpan Invitational Meet in memory of Amber Kotzer.

More than 100 gymnasts  strutted their stuff for judges in four events, the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor routine.

Kassidy Flanagan, competing in level three Tyro competition, was the only Technics gymnast in action Saturday afternoon, but she was brimming with confidence.

“Hopefully gold,” was Flanagan’s response when asked about her expectations.

Technics Gymnastics coach Peggy Willcox had a similar take on Flanagan.

“She can have the most confidence in the world,” Willcox said.

“I think she could finish first.”

The gymnastics Gods were not quite on Flanagan's side Saturday afternoon, but she did manage to make the podium a couple of times, with a silver on the beam and a bronze for her floor exercise.  The results placed Flanagan fourth overall.

Several other Quesnel gymnasts distinguished themselves.

“As a team we did quite well,” Willcox said.

Madison Moore, 9, earned gold medals in all events in provincial level two competition, as well as first place overall.

In other level two competition, Taylor Dotto, 13, collected a bronze on vault, silver on beam, gold for floor exercise and silver over all.

Kim Hruschak, 11, took a bronze on the vault, beam, and floor exercises, teammate Hannah Doucette, 10, earned silver on vault and uneven bars to go along with a gold in floor exercise and a bronze overall.

Alexis Wright, 14, also in provincial level two earned bronze on vault, bronze on bars, silver on beam, and bronze over all and teammates Sydney Maley and Marlayna Staats, both 13, finished sixth and fourth, respectively, on vault.

In provincial level one competition, Jessica Higgins, 8, earned gold on vault, bronze on floor exercise and silver overall.

Alyssa Schneider, 8, finished fifth on bars and earned gold in Gymstart Events.

Celina DeRose, 10, leapt to bronze on vault, silver on bars, and bronze overall in level one competition and teammate Hannah Evans, 12, collected silver on vault, gold on bars, silver on beam, gold on floor and gold overall.

In Gymstart competition, Emily Vahaaho, 8, finished with a silver, Mckayla Bolitho, 6, earned silver and Darby O’Hara, 8, earned gold for her efforts.
