High School Rodeo provincial finals returning to Quesnel for third consecutive year

Regional events coming to Chetwynd, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Moore Ranch (Pouce Coupe) and Merritt

The BC High School Rodeo Association has released their planned schedule for the Spring 2022 season.

For the third consecutive year finals will be held in Quesnel, with junior provincials set for May 21 - 23, and high school provincials planned for June 10 - 12.

Provincials was the only event approved in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 rules. Both years they were hosted at the Gus Cameron Rodeo Arena in Alex Fraser Park.

The regional rodeos will be split between the north and south, with Quesnel hosting co-approved event on May 6 - 8. The regionals act as qualifiers for the provincial events.

The schedule with approved and one tentative event was shared to the North Region’s Facebook page.

The North district season kicks off in Chetwynd on April 30, with the South region tentatively scheduled for Williams Lake during the same weekend.

The weekend of May 13 - 15 will see regional rodeos at Moore Ranch near Pouce Coupe for the north district, and Merritt in the south.

The Junior Nationals are planned to be held in Perry Georgia from June 19 - 25, and high school nationals are set for Gillette, Wyoming in July.

The Canadian Finals are planned for Swift Current, Sask. on Aug. 4 - 6.

Rodeos won’t be the only event sanctioned by the BC High School Rodeo Association in 2022. They’re also sanctioning a small bore shooting event, which will be hosted in Fort St. John on April 23/24.
