There were no treats to be found for the Quesnel Kangaroos, as they dropped two games on Halloween weekend.

The Roos lost 8-5 in Hazelton on Oct. 30, and 6-2 to Terrace on Oct. 31, in Central Interior Hockey League action.

A disastrous first period had Quesnel chasing the game from the first period on in Hazelton, as the Wolverines jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Before the horn sounded, Ryan Keis was able to respond for the Kangaroos.

Hazelton eventually extended their lead to 6-2, with Alessio Tomassetti tallying for Quesnel short-handed.

Down by four, a comeback just fell short, as goals from Ian Jarvis, Bryan Allbee, and Darby Madill cut Hazleton’s lead to 6-5 with 7 minutes left in the game.

Quesnel’s efforts would all be for naught, as an empty net goal ended the comeback bid.

The Kangaroos once again started slow on Halloween, falling behind 2-0 in the first period. The River Kings extended their lead by one in the second period, and eventually pushed it to 6-0 in the third period.

Madill scored twice to cut the deficit and give the final score.

The Kangaroos fell to 2-2 on the season after dropping both games.

Quesnel will hope a return to the friendly confines of the West Fraser Centre will help them get back in the winning column as they host the Prince Rupert Rampage on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.
