Although the CIHL season doesn’t start for several months, there is still much to do, including holding an annual general meeting.

The ‘Roos first AGM is scheduled for June 28 at 7 p.m., in the banquet hall at Twin Arenas.

“Everyone is invited to attend,” Gassoff said.

An important point of discussion at the meeting will be volunteers.

“We need as many volunteers as possible,” Gassoff said.

Volunteers are needed for scorekeeping and timekeeping, security, helping in the concession stand and other responsibilities.

The time commitment will not be onerous because the ‘Roos only have nine home games, with two games being played each weekend they are in town, Gassoff said.

Add to that a few exhibition games and with any luck some playoff games, and the time commitment should be quite manageable.

The CIHL schedule has yet to be published, but the first games will be in October, Gassoff said, with playoffs in February.

The team has secured volunteers for the board of directors, including Jack Marsh, Marco Pellizzari, Tim Kirkham, Tom Moore and Terry Scanlon.

Also stepping up is Bill Roach who has agreed to serve as the team’s manager.

On the player front, Gassoff has secured the names of 40 local players interested in lacing up for the Kangaroos.

Most notably are Jeff Gagnon, Dave Gordon, Spencer Holmes, Joel Boyetchko, Paul Jirodat and the Tomassetti brothers Nick and Alessio.
