“We won,” a beaming Sharon Chow, coach with the Quesnel Figure Skating Club, said to a packed room at the Quesnel and District Arts and Recreation Centre.
With those two words, figure skaters, parents and coaches, with astonished looks on their faces, screamed and jumped for joy at the news they had won first prize in Skate Canada’s “Show it off” contest.
The win for QFSC, celebrating their 50th anniversary, means Canadian figure-skating icon Kurt Browning is coming to Quesnel to present a special one-day seminar.

"Our campaign was Skate Canada lives here and it really does live here at the Quesnel Figure Skating Club.
The contest, designed to promote Skate Canada’s new logo, asked figure skating clubs across Canada to produce a three-minute video showing how they incorporated new Skate Canada pennants into their community.
More than 50 figure-skating clubs submitted videos for the "Show it off" contest.
Judges for the contest included William Thompson, chief executive officer with Skate Canada, Benoit Lavoie, president for Skate Canada and Jeff Buttle, 2008 World champion.
