Ladies duos teed off on 56th annual Quesnel event

Low gross and net scores won trophies for the two-day tourney

Golfers did the hula for moola at one of the pinnacle female tournaments of the year, in Quesnel.

The Quesnel Ladies Best Ball Tournament happened Aug 18-20 with its Hawaiian Luau theme, at the Quesnel Golf Club and gathered scores of participants shooting competitive scores over two days. In all, 68 golfers (25 from Quesnel, 22 from Prince George, 13 from Williams Lake, the rest from five other towns) competed in teams of two for a pair of prestigious awards.

The Barb Smith / Marg Jefferson Low Net trophy was won by the duo of Charlene Fulton and Kristina Mason (score of 128) while the Nita Lane Low Gross trophy was won by the duo of Harjit Mann and Liliana Link (score of 166).

This was the 56th edition of the event, which is also an opportunity for golfers to help out some worthy local causes. Fundraising included $845 for Quesnel Hospice & Palliative Care, plus raffle proceeds of $1,380 for the Jump Start Program.
