Ron Larson of Quesnel continued to show his skill on the NSRA race track.

In a recent race at Roseburg, Oregon, the Art Pollard Memorial, Larson, buckled up in a sprint car and went the distance to claim the checkered flag.

The win was in marked contrast to the day’s qualifying runs that were marked by a burnt tire and problems with the engine timing.

“I tried going into the corners smooth but I was too quick with both hands on the wheel, ” Larson who qualified in the number 12 spot, said.

“With one hand on the wheel and one hand on the side things went better.

“I don’t know why.”

The win, worth 66 points in the standings, vaulted Larson into fifth place in the National Street Rod Association standings with a total of 213 points, just 19 points out of fourth place.

The first-place finish follows on the heels of two forty-point finishes.

Larson snagged his first 40 points with a 13th-place finish in Munro, WA in the Rory Price Memorial race.

He added another 40 points with a ninth-place finish in the Super Shoe Show race in Post Falls, Idaho in July.

Larson is busy, with  a race this weekend in Ephrata, Wash. for the Rebel Jackson Memorial race and Aug. 19 – 20, he and his crew chief Lance Wilcox, travel to Victoria for the Daffodil Cup.
