With four skaters and five medals, the girls from the Quesnel Figure Skating club came back from Burnaby with a little extra jewellery.
“To have three skaters in one club in Quesnel, and they’re in the top 3 for the entire super series,” Sharon Chow, a coach for the team said, “the results are pretty phenomenal.”
The Super Series consisted of three competitions. First, a season-spanning points competition, in which Carmen Huang was first in Jr. Silver Ladies freeskate singles, Selena Van Aert was second in Gold Ladies freeskate singles and Cassandra Greenwood got third in Senior. Bronze Ladies freeskate singles (Vanessa Van Aert’s position was unavailable as of press time). Second, a competition for points-standing within the tournament in which Carmen Huang got first in Jr. Silver Ladies freeskate singles, Selena Van Aert got second in Gold Ladies freeskate singles, Vanessa Van Aert got third in Sr. Bronze Ladies freeskate singles and first in Gold Interpretive and Cassandra Greenwood second in Silver Interpretive. And finally a competition between each region’s ‘team of ten’ (Quesnel’s region’s standings in the ‘team of ten’ aspect of the tournament had not been released as of press time.)
Jo-Ann Nadalin, the club’s head coach, was happy that her club’s hard work paid off.
“Each worked hard, practice after practice to see how high they could go,” Nadalin said.
“You always get out what you put in.”
