The Quensel Millionaires junior A hockey team acquired three players on the Jan. 10 British Columbia Hockey League deadline.
After a hiatus from hockey, 20-year-old forward Taylor Orser found the itch for the game and contacted Mills coach Doug Hedley to see if there was a spot for him on the roster.
Orser, a 5’ 11” and 190 pound forward, has Western Hockey League experience with the Prince George Cougars and BCHL experience with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and the Surrey Eagles.
A navtive of Langley, B.C., Orser is expected to add grit to the Mills lineup as well as experience.
The Mills also acquired two defencemen at the trade deadline.
Austin Baecker, a 6’6” defenceman from Kelowna, B.C. was acquired from the Vernon Vipers for future considerations.
The 18-year-old Baecker spent part of this season with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL.
Baecker also suited up for the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL during the 2009-2010 season and collected one assist and 29 penalty minutes in 26 games.
The Millionaires also added another defenceman to their roster at the deadline, picking up 17-year-old Kiefer McNaughton from the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL for future considerations.
McNaughton, a 6’3” native of North Vancouver, collected a goal, three assists and 19 penatly minutes in 18 games for the Clippers.
The Mills also trimmed their roster by sending disgruntled defenceman Elliot Richardson to the Wellington Dukes Hockey Club of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
