Despite the past few years plagued by forest fires and covid, dog sports continue to be popular in our area.

Fit Pets Dog Sports have recently moved to a larger location on Marsh Drive and are excited to welcome a new trainer to their club.

Stephanie Stanton-Linder brings a vast array of dog training experience to the club. Stephanie is an animal trainer for the film industry and ran a dog training centre in the lower mainland for ten years. There she worked on films like “A Dogs Journey”, was a puppy trainer for “The Art Of Racing In The Rain” and recently trained two of the Bordeaux dogs for the Disney Plus series “Turner and Hooch.” Her dog, Nova, recently starred in the Hallmark film “Romance to the Rescue.”

Stephanie will be competing in disc dog nationals in early July with four of her dogs. She will then be traveling with the SuperDogs in B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan over the summer to perform at various shows with six of her dogs. When her busy schedule allows, Stephanie teaches puppy, obedience, disc and trick classes at Fit Pets Dog Sports in Quesnel.

“We are so lucky to have Stephanie teaching at Fit Pets,” said Erin Lynes, trainer at Fit Pets and owner of Eromit AIRacademy.

For her part, Stephanie said, “I haven’t been here very long, but I feel so at home already! Everyone has been so welcoming. The dog-loving community here is made up of some of the kindest people I’ve met. I feel super grateful to have landed here in Quesnel.”

Currently, Fit Pets Dog Sports Association in Quesnel is putting on CWAGS Nosework league trials that have attracted competitors from as far away as Kitimat.

From June 10-12 Eromit AIRcademy hosted a NADD Dock Diving Season Opener and Qualifier and will hold several more events over the summer. On Saturday, July 2, and Sunday, July 3, Fit Pets is co-hosting with Top Dog from Prince George an agility trial out at Eromit Kennels.
