Two Quesnel Ringette players were chosen for Team BC to compete in the Western Ringette Championships, hosted in Regina, Saskatchewan from March 31 to April 3.

Elyse Anderson and Tesa Rorke were asked to join the U14 Team BC to compete against teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

The team started strong on Friday with an upset 6-5 win against the pool favourite from Alberta. Team BC followed up with another win against Team Manitoba, grinding out the 3-2 win with a fabulous shot in the final moments to clinch the game.

Saturday was a tougher day for Team BC. A close loss to another strong Alberta team, followed by a loss to Team Saskatchewan made for a tangled bracket.

Unfortunately, Team BC lost out on the pathway to the medals when it came down to the tiebreak.

The weekend was still a huge success for Team BC, as they proved they could compete with the best ringette teams in Western Canada despite a season that saw few opportunities to play in high level competition.

Tournaments cancelled due to COVID and flooding had Team BC coming into this tournament playing far fewer games than their competition.

Elyse and Tesa made Quesnel Ringette proud with a strong defensive showing throughout the weekend, as their line frustrated opponents and minimized scoring opportunities.

A big thanks to Quesnel Ringette for their support of the Elyse and Tesa to help get them to Regina, but even more for providing an opportunity for the girls to compete in a sport they love.
