The Brenda Ernst rink is confident heading into the BC Senior Women’s Curling Championships.

The team, made up of four Quesnel curlers will be travelling to Chilliwack to compete from March 15 - 20 and will be up against nine other teams.

Brenda Ernst is the skip, with third Dana Johansen, second Penni Yamamoto and lead Shari Needham.

Needham said the team is confident after reaching the finals of the B.C. Club Championships in Quesnel earlier in the season.

“The goal is to come home with a win,” she said.

“It’s a tough field, so we hope to go and play our best, and see what happens.”

The Ernst rink has competed at senior provincials in two previous years, and hopes to rely on those previous experiences.

“We’re feeling a little bit more comfortable,” Needham said, noting the players hit the ice in Quesnel twice a week as individuals, and compete as a team in the Quesnel Curling Club’s sponsor league.

The BC Senior Women’s Curling Championships was scheduled to take place in February, but COVID-19 public health rules forced it to be postponed to March.
