The Quesnel Curling Centre has finally decided to shake hands and abandon their season.

Manager Dave Plant said after provincial health restrictions were extended indefinately on Friday, Feb. 5, the executive quickly moved to shut the season down.

“It is what it is,” he said.

Quesnel was one of few clubs in B.C. holding out hope restrictions around curling would lift. Ice has already been removed across most of Western Canada.

“We were probably in the minority, that’s for sure,” Plant said. “Here in the north it was just Terrace and us.”

Some curling activities, including junior and solo practises are still allowed under current rules but with the ice removed, those will stop too.

Those who paid for dues for a full season at the club will be partially refunded. A post on the centre’s Facebook page notes they have sent out emails to everyone eligible, and anyone who did not receive an email should contact Plant by calling the club at 250-992-5813.
