Both Serenity and Bear were missing their top trigger men, but the great eight who showed up for the Builders wanted it more, as they cruised to a 4-1 win that was closer than the score would lead you to believe.

The 1-1 game at Zamboni time featured several sensational saves at both ends, as last week’s number one star, Kyle “Cujo” Anderson, along with Josh “Junior” Salmons kept scorers stymied.

Late in the second stanza, Serenity took their first lead of the season as Cam “Shaft” Graham converted a cross-crease pass from Nathan “The Last” Strand for his second of the morning. Moments later, the Mayhem line was up to its old tricks as Chris “Crown” Royle did an awkward “Savardian Spin-o-rama” before unleashing a lethal shot that went bar-down.

With time about to expire, Shawn “Pumper” Nicholls scored a nifty wrap-around for his second of the young season. The only player to beat “Junior” Salmons was Kris “Haymaker” Hayman, who rifled a point shot off several Serenity sticks for Bear’s lone goal.

The other contest saw BCS wake up and find the score sheet as it rebounded from its opening morning goose egg to score seven versus Fraser River’s five.

Showing that he still has a few notches left in his Titan was Kevin “Nightrider” Hesslegrave, who scored back-to-back beauties and set-up a trio of others.

Also having fine games were Matt “The Punisher” Powell, who had four points including two goals, as well as “Jack” Russell Higdon, who had a goal and an assist.

Scoring the first BCS goal of the season was Brian “Dominator” Domeris who converted one of Jim “Soupy” Sales two assists.

Also notching a pair of points was renowned back-checker Gord “Senior” Salmons whose cannonading mesh-rippler was the insurance goal.

Supplying all the offense for Fraser River was their ridiculously great line of Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah, Levon “Jumpin Jack” Johnson and his brother from another mother, Jason “Double J” Johnson, who combined for five goals and three assists in the losing cause.
