Quesnel goalie named as star of the week for KIJHL

Quesnel players aren’t just lighting up the top of the league scoring list in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), they’re also helping backstop teams to win.

Kamloops Storm goalie Colton Phillips-Watts was named as one of the league’s three stars of the week on Nov. 29.

Phillips-Watts posted consecutive shutouts while racking up a 0.958 save percentage, leading the Storm to victories over Kelowna and Scamous. He also helped the Storm earn a point in an overtime loss.

The league leader in wins, he boasts a 0.923 save percentage on the season.

Fellow Quesnel product Jack Henderson of the Osoyoos Coyotes continues to lead the league in scoring.

A proposed KIJHL expansion team for Quesnel will be voted on by the league’s board of govenors later this month.
