The Quesnel Golf Club (QCG) hosted its first annual ladies Texas Scramble earlier this month.

One of the most popular team games was attended by 96 female golfers from Houston, Vanderhoof, Prince George, Williams Lake and Quesnel on Saturday, May 7.

The theme was “Heroes of the Century” with several teams dressing up. Best dressed team was awarded to Heidi Goncalves, Tracey Syrota, Terri Daniels and Vanessa Hoffman of Vanderhoof.

The tournament was divided into four flights.

Lisa Kerley, Kelly Flaherty, Crystal Wells and Andrea Christensen shot to first place in the first flight. Claiming second were Elaine Hetu, Lori Saretsky, Helen Slaney and Michelle Swalwell, with third place going to Betty Ann Shiels, Shirley Halliday, Vonda Hofferd and Linda Peterson.

Playing in flight two were Tina Mason, Sandra Shearer, Charlene Fulton and Karen Lefrancois who fired their way to first place. Second place went to Hillary Avoledo, Nikki Peever, Jenna Rich and Jozie Maas. Carly Backer, Rhonda Christianson, Ashley Lee and Julie Backer claimed third.

In the third flight, Magan Mcguiney, Kayla King, Jenn Postnikoff and Marcie Tracy were the first-place winner, followed by Lori Durocher, Rickey Deis, Shannon Coffey and Rae-Lee Durocher. Tracey Syrota, Vanessa Hoffman, Heidi Goncalves and Terri Daniel went home in third place.

Finishing first in flight four were Carol Reid, Courtney Reid, Whitney Christie and Amanda Cherry. Firing their way to second place were Patti Gerhardi, Barb McNolty, Ninette Savage and Gen Bradley, with Bobbi Bell, Haley Bell, Jaime Bell and Taylor Beck claiming third.

The weekend tournament raised $665 for the junior club, which QCG pro Kathy Gook will be getting up and going again.

“The course was in fantastic shape for so early in the year, and Bogies Bar and Grill did a fabulous job on the Friday night pulled pork sandwich and delicious lasagna dinner Saturday night,” noted the QGC.

“We are very thankful to have a fully functioning golf club once again.”
