Quesnel gymnists find balance on podium

Gymnasts form the Quesnel Technics Gymnastics club have kept busy since the provincial championships last April.

Fourteen gymnasts made their way north on Highway 97 for the Prince George Invitational Meet, May 7 – 8 and as a group returned with 38 top three finishes and a handful of ribbons as well.

In Level 1 competition, Jessica Higgins competed in the Argo category and took home gold medals in the vault and uneven bars competitions, as well as a bronze medal for her beam exercise and a silver medal for all round performance.

Also in Level 1 Argo, Alyssa Schneider snagged a bronze medal for her efforts on the vault.

Celina DeRose competed in the Level 1 Tyro category events and came home with a fourth-place ribbon for her uneven bars routine.

In Level 2 competition, Madison Moore took home a silver medal in the vault event in the Argo category.

In the Level 2 Tyro category, Kim Hruschak took home a sixth-place ribbon for her floor routine.

In the Level 2 Novice category, Taylor Dotto tumbled to a gold medal in the floor exercise and also earned a silver medal on the balance beam.  Danielle Carter earned a silver medal for her work on the uneven bars.

In the Level 2 Open category, Alexis Wright took home a fourth-place ribbon in the floor exercise event.

In Level 3, Janelle Izzard competed in the Tyro category and snagged gold medals for the balance beam and all around scores, as well as silver medals for the vault and floor events and a bronze medal in uneven bars competition.

 

In the Gymstart category, Presley Kitimura and Lakelynn Lothrop took part in Level 1 competition.  Kitimura made the gold standard on the vault and the silver standard on the uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and all around

scores.

 

Lothrop made the gold standard on the vault, balance beam as well as all around and earned the silver standard on the uneven bars and floor exercise.

In Level 2 Gymstart competition, Darby O’Hara made the gold standard on the vault, the silver standard on the uneven bars and the bronze standard for all around scores.

Alyssa Schneider stepped to the mat in Level 3 Gymstart competition and came home with gold on the uneven bars and floor exercises, as well as silver on the balance beam and all around scores.

In Level 4 Gymstart competition, Jessica Higgins earned the gold medal on the bars and the floor exercise and collected silver medals for her efforts on the vault and for her all around scores.

Hannah Doucette and Madison Moore also took part in the Doetzel Invitational Meet in Fort St. John, May 14 – 15.

Moore earned a fifth place in Level 2 Tyro vault competition and Doucette earned the silver medal in Level 2 Argo balance beam competition
