Quesnel Kangaroos draw first blood

Terrace River Kings not the fight fans expected

After the nail-biter of a playoff series between the Terrace River Kings and Quesnel Kangaroos, fans were expecting another battle to the wire.

This time, the Quesnel Kangaroos had the game in the bag by the end of the first period. Sure, there was more scoring after that, but it was over that early. Terrace came out flat, the Roos came out flying, and even though the shots were 38-27 in favour of the Roos, and the score was correspondingly 6-3 for Quesnel, the gameplay margin was even wider than that.

The Coy Cup is on the line, and with only three teams in this tournament instead of the customary four, every win counts. Quesnel, on home ice, just took a big step towards their season-long goal of winning their 12th B.C. championship in the 100-year history of the Coy Cup tournament.

There is an 8 p.m. game Wednesday and Thursday, then 7:30 p.m. games Friday and Saturday now that the event is underway.
