“It was awesome, they played really, really well,” she said.

“They checked, they passed and they scored.”

Fraser also said that outscoring opponents by 2-1 also means the Novice team had some pretty good goaltending.

“He was awesome,” she said of netminder Mitchell Allen.

All the more impressive is the tournament represented the first time Allen put on goal pads.

Also having a great weekend was the U12 Petite squad that also recorded four wins.

The Quesnel Petites beat Prince George 8-2, Terrace 6-3 and topped Vernon twice, 6-3 and 7-1.

“It was a great team effort,” coach Judy Young said of her 10 and 11-year-old players following the win against the Terrace/Houston team.

“They played solid for two periods,” Young added.

“They have really good spirit, great team spirit and they work well as a team.”

The Quesnel U14 Tween team played three games over the weekend and finished with a record of one win and two losses.

The U16 Junior team finished the weekend with two wins and a tie. Both wins 7-1 and 9-4 came against the Junior team from Prince George and the 4-4 tie came against Houston.

The tournament also served as a warmup for the Junior team as they prepare for the ESSO Golden ring tournament in Calgary this weekend.

“The Golden Ring is billed as the largest ringette tournament in the world, so we’re hoping our team does well there,” Morehouse said.

The U19 Belle team played four games on the weekend. First up was a 2-2 tie against Penticton that was followed by a 10-7 win against Houston. The Quesnel Belles then lost 7-5 to Prince George to close out round-robin play and them beat Houston again, 4-1 to finish third.
