The Quesnel Rodeo has changed its name to The Quesnel Rodeo Mid Season Classic and will feature the Professional Saddle Broncs and a newly formatted BCRA Amateur tournament-style rodeo.
According to a statement released by the Quesnel Rodeo Club, the rodeo will now see the top 10 in each of the timed events and the bull riding and then the top six in the saddle bronc, bareback and novice rough stock after Friday and Saturday events return to compete on Sunday for the championship rounds.
Quesnel Rodeo Club president Ray Jasper believes the changes will make the rodeo even more exciting for fans to watch, as the Sunday events will see the best competitors going up against each other at the same time.
“At many rodeos, the guys compete once, so you might miss it — we’re bringing the top 10 guys back on Sunday, so it should be pretty exciting,” he said. “I think with the new format, the bull riding will be better than it’s ever been in the past. I think we’re gonna have a real good show — it should be something that rodeo fans love, and that’s what we are trying to do, up our content and make a better show for the rodeo fans.”
Cowboys and cowgirls will descend on Quesnel and pack Alex Fraser Park July 17-19 for the 55th Quesnel Rodeo and the first-ever Quesnel Rodeo Mid Season Classic.
