The Quesnel Technics gymnastics team finished their season off well, taking home a treasure chest of medals from Smithers, before coming home to show off for their parents.
The Aloha Meet allowed the small gymnasts the chance to show off their growth throughout the year.
Peggy Wilcox, the team’s coach, was impressed with her kids in the competition and throughout the year.
“I’d like all the recognition to go to my gymnasts. They did incredibly,” she said.
From the Gymstart, ages five to 10, all the way up to level two. ages nine to 12, the kids achieved great results.
In level two, both Jessica Higgins and Madison Moore excelled.
Moore tied for golf in floor, obtained silver on the vault and the bars, and got bronze in the all round. Higgins tied Moore for gold on the floor, took silver on the beam and in all round, and bronze on the vault and the bars.
In level one the girls did just as well.
Emily Gorder won gold in all round and on bars and got bronze on the bars. Sierra Moore competed for her first time, and took home two eighth place ribbons for floor and beam. Alyssa Schneider tied for silver on bars and won the level one choreography award. Emmi Vahaaho received Silver metal on Bars, the Bronze medal in the All round, floor and Vault.
“Her winning smile and genuine love of performing on floor won her the level one choreography award,” Wilcox said.
Mens Level 1 athlete Isaac Woollens earned Gold on Vault and Hi-bar, Silver on all other events. He had the mens hi scores on Pommel horse, Hi-bar, and 2nd highest score of all men in the all round.
The wrap-up let the kids show off their skills in a more intimate setting, with all the parents there to watch.
During the evening Wilcox hoped to show the progression of skills of the gymnasts, she said.
Through this the parents were treated to all manner of impressive gymastics.
