They are back at it.

More than 30 women from Quesnel are back in training with Tara Fookes as part of the Powered by Heart fitness competition.

The women meet at the Quesnel and District Arts and Recreation Centre twice a week for 16 weeks in the lead up to the second Powered by Heart women’s fitness competition slated for May 14.

“The challenge is for women of all shapes and sizes,” event organizer Fookes said.

Most of the participants, event organizer Fookes

said, are there because they like the class, whereas others fully intend to participate in the fitness challenge.

“We promote fitness in general,” Fookes said.

“Not just competition.”

Last year’s challenge was well received, Fookes said, and this time organizers hope to attract more participants.

Powered by Heart is a specially designed obstacle course which includes stations with various challenges, which last year included tire tossing and car pushing.

Fookes did not tip her hand as to what obstacles would appear at this year’s challenge, but did say there would be a couple of surprise obstacles.

Registration is $65 per individual.
