Quesnel’s Wally Doern of 2 Rivers Boxing Club has been recognized as a recipient of the Sport BC President’s award. It’s presented to volunteers from SportBC members and partner organizations who represent the spirit of volunteerism and whose dedication and commitment contribute to the development of their sport.

The 2017 Presidents Award winners represent 25 communities and 44 different Sport BC member and partner organizations. Doern has been involved in boxing all his life as a boxer and now as a coach and is committed to help ensure that his boxers not only learn skills in the ring but also away from it. As a coach he gets to know the individual not only as a boxer but also as a person.

With this personal connection he can help guide them the right way as a person which is another fulfilling aspect for him.

A long with this achievement he has also been inducted into the BC Boxing Hall of Fame, won the Harold Mann award for working with youth in boxing and named Coach of the Year. Doern will receive his award March 8 at the SportBC awards gala in Vancouver.
