Jackson Nickolet and Colton Shepherd competed this past weekend in the BCMA/Monster Energy Pro National Event in Kamloops on June 8/13. BCMA racing took place on Saturday with the Pro Nationals held on Sunday June 9th. Riders from all over Alberta and B.C. took in the event raising the bar for Nickolet and Shepherd.
More than 30 rider's in the gates created a real challenge for the Quesnel riders. Depsite being taken out in a corner and run over, Nickolet managed to recover and take a respectable 13 out of the 36 riders in the jr. MX2 class and finishing sixth overall in schoolboy. Shepherd also competed against the 36 riders, finishing in 22 in jr. MX2 and eighth overall in schoolboy against over 30 competitors in three different classes racing at once.
Sunday morning brought the terrible news when we discovered Colton's 2012 Suzuki RMZ250F race bike #82 had been stolen during the early hours of the morning. For many, the day brought excitement watching the Monster Energy Pro National Motocross event, but for my family it was heart wrenching to come to grasps with the loss of our son's race bike. It's what we do, a huge family event with our motocross family, competing and supporting young racers everywhere.
