Ryder Hesjedal is the only Canadian cyclist to win one of the three major European Tours, which includes the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España. And in the early two thousands he trained with Quesnel’s own Juerg Feldman. Feldman runs FaCT Canada Consulting in town with Herb Chlebek. FaCT is a sports consulting and training business and Feldman is the head of Science, Technical Support and Customer Training. He is no stranger to training high level athletes, having coached the Swiss Nordic Combined Ski Team leading to the Calgary Olympics in 1988 among others. John Courtney, one of the managers of Cyclologic, and a sometimes recipient of Feldman’s training, was there in Italy during the Giro and was super happy to see a Canadian on the top of the podium. “All I can say is that having the good fortune to be there to cheer Ryder on, to ride some of the same mountain passes, to get swept up in the excitement of the Italian fans and to proudly fly the only Canadian flag on the final day – that was absolutely one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It has been amazing to see the growth of cycling in Canada in the last five years and I can only hope that Ryder’s accomplishment will continue to raise the profile of the sport,” Courtney said
