Trophy date to see Quesnel’s hockey hardware

Community gets to meet the metal won by Roos

You, too, can lay hands on the Coy Cup.

The Quesnel Kangaroos have already hoisted the grail of BC Hockey’s Senior-AA Championship. They did it on home ice in front of the largest audience to ever watch a hockey game in the history of Quesnel.

Now, anyone who wants to see the chalice up close can do so. The public gets to meet the Coy.

“With such big accomplishments this season, your Quesnel Kangaroos will have a celebration day,” said a statement from the team.

Come on down and join the Roos on May 13th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the place where community spirit has written its name: Spirit Square.

The event will be more than a celebration of the Coy Cup. The Roos did nothing but win, this past season, earning themselves first place in the regular season standings for the Central Interior Hockey League, then winning the playoffs as well, and then winning the biggest prize of them all, in this province’s Senior-AA world.

The fans were there for it all, so the fans will get to touch it all and be face to face with the players who made them roar all season.

“They will have the regular season trophy, the playoff trophy, and the biggest of them all, the Coy Cup will all be down at Spirit Square parking lot across from Shoppers Drug Mart,” said the team. “The Quesnel Kangaroos have won the historic Coy Cup more than any other team in Senior-AA Hockey. The parking lot will be closed as we all celebrate together with the Roos.”

There will be a community barbecue along with a ball hockey rink set aside with boards for the kids to come play, and meet their local hockey heroes. Who knows, maybe a Roo or two might even join in on the action.

“This is a huge celebration not only for the Roos but for the entire community. Join your 2022-2023 Quesnel Kangaroos one last time,” said the Roos organization’s statement.
