The Correlieu senior Clan girls volleyball team kept their eyes on the ball and their hands in the air as they spiked and blocked as best they could last weekend at a 12-team tournament hosted by Kelly Road senior secondary in Prince George. The Clan fisnished the tournament in sixth place.

The Correlieu senior secondary girls’ volleyball team entered their Saturday morning match against the College Heights Cougars with a perfect 3-0 record.

Unfortunately, a tip here and a tip there, left the Clan on the short end of 25-19 and 25-22 straight set losses at Kelly Road senior school.

“They played well, but their energy level was down just a bit,” Clan coach Mick Windt said.

“We’ll get them next time.”

The dip in energy level was especially notable on the offensive side of the net, Windt said.

“We didn’t push our offence as hard as we have in the past,” he said.

In addition to a slow-paced offence, the Clan were also called for several net violations which put an end to rallies, or extended rallies by the Cougars.

The loss put the Clan up against the Roadrunners from host Kelly Road to determine fifth and sixth place.

The Roadrunners handed the Clan their second loss of the day, to put the Clan in sixth place in the 12-team tournament.
