The Quesnel chapter of Youth Bowling Canada hosted the regional championships for boys at Rev Bowling Lanes.

Young bowlers from across the Cariboo spared no effort to strike their way to the top in several categories.

Corbin Taylor, 10, of Quesnel, finished the day as kingpin in the bantam division and qualified to represent BC North region in Kamloops Mar. 5 in the provincial championships.

It was a heartbreak afternoon for the junior boys team of Brandon Harvey, Joshua Cunningham, Ryley Dumaine and Bryce Twogood.

The foursome were leading after three games, but the team from Fort St. John managed to slip ahead by just 18 points in the last few frames of the fourth and final match.

In bantam boys action, Liam Bourke and teammates Kartar Basi, Andrew Sherstan and Brett Castonguay finished in second place, 134 points behind rival Dawson Creek.

YBC leagues host many events throughout the year.

The events are conducted on a handicap basis, which gives all youngsters, regardless of ability, the opportunity to participate and have fun, youth bowling director with Quesnel Bowling, Stacey Taylor said.
